This reminds me what I tried to get across to an ex partner of mine.
A relationship is like a bank, that has emotional withdrawls and deposits.
The relationship can weather the negative withdrawls ONLY if it is filled with positive deposits.
Once the bank is empty, even a small withdrawl is enough to break it.
No the pain does not go away right away .Bbut fades slowly over time. But you pick your self back off the ground check to see if all your body parts are where they are supposed to be. and carry onward to your goal. or the only other option is to dig a hole and crawl in and take a dirt nap. But the best revenge is to make lemonade from the sour lemmons that life hands you!

I do know what you mean, but I think that we also need to let the past go. Yes we all have pain and hurt from the past but the only real way to move on and be happy is to forgive, trust again and love again.
Now dont get me wrong I do not agree with betrayal and deceit, and I do not agree with the way my girlfriends man has handled this at all, but I guess I would want to know that I am reacting to the current circumstances and not based on old pains.
Have to ask though, can you really kick emotions to the curb that easily? I mean if you love someone today, and they hurt you, does it just go away tomorrow? less...
True emotions are involved. but if that had happened to me. they would be kicked to the curb. the reason is given. my past betrayal by my ex- wife. Deceit, distrust and betrayal are to me are are relationship killers. To me it kills the relationship , just as dead as a bullet or a knife. Or to put it a nother way a relationship is like being pregnant either one is or they are are not.Their is no in between.

Yes based on first reactions I would have to agree, but I guess when there is emotions tied up in it all, well it can be much harder just to say goodbye.
There would be major trust issues though and I think I may want him to wear a Chastity belt, lol love that idea more...
