I think you & I are at the same phase/point in our lives. After 22 yrs at the same job, I feel I need a change. I've always wanted to own my own business. Be my own boss.
About 3 weeks ago, I was handed that opportunity on a silver platter. No strings attached. Just give my 2 weeks notice & take over a great business.
I was so nervous about the whole thing but I was gonna jump in with both feet & get them wet. This is what I had been waiting for.
Then, of course, what happens next. Things get complicated.
I had a doctors appt. scheduled in between my meetings with the owner of the business (the business I want & am being offered). I went to my appt. & my Doc says that I'm gonna need surgery very soon.
If I take the offer & take over this business, I don't have insurance & can't pay for the surgery I will need soon.
So, sadly, I had to say no to the offer & have to stay at my old job for the insurance.
I truly want to believe that this is a lesson in patience for me. Or at least I'm gonna try to take it this way.
I believe that someday, the change & opportunity I've been waiting for will come. And that day, everything will go well & according to my plan.
Until then, I remind myself to be patient.
There's a line I love from the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" it says "Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things & a good thing never dies."
I hope one day you get your chance.
PG.
